Who I am is a Precious Metal
Clay fanatic by night/weekends and a high school art teacher by day. I have
a Master's degree in Art Education and a bachelor's degree in design, both
from the University of Minnesota. My Mom and I are thrilled to announce the opening of our new art studio space, Sage Studios, Inc. Sage Studios, Inc. consists of 36 picturesque acres near Sandstone, Minnesota, 90 miles north of Minneapolis. It is a wonderful site with hundreds of pine trees, a pond and plenty of woods for you to be inspired to create art! Our quaint cottage has dorm space for 6 women, two large art rooms, and an art library. Please email us to tell us when you would like to join us in pursuing some creative art endeavors. |
| What I like about PMC | I came upon PMC when I was looking for an alternative to
making silver cast jewelry. Cast jewelry involves using noxious materials
such as wax for burnout molds, casting investment which contains silica
and christobolite. PMC was exactly what I was looking for! When I found
out I could make silver jewelry without working with toxic materials, I
was immediately enamored or shall I say enameled?! The idea of finishing
a piece of fine silver piece of jewelry in several hours instead of several
days or perhaps,a week was incredibly appealing, too! |
| Specialty Skill (PMC Technique) |
I like the clay form because it is similar to working with waterbased
clay and can be used in conjunction with it. The tools and techniques are
interchangeable which makes it easy to transfer previous knowledge from
one to the other. Patterns of all sorts...amuse and delight me... so I am
drawn to working with PMC clay form because I can easily put a design motif
or texture into a "slab" of clay without the ardous task of pounding
or pressing designs into the metal in the final form. |
